I am a third-year journalism and business student at Colorado State University, and I work for the Rocky Mountain Collegian as a reporter/columnist/videographer. I am also a charter member of the leadership-based sorority Kappa Alpha Theta, and I am always looking for involvement opportunities on campus. Someday I hope to open my own tattoo shop and run the business side of it, write young adult fiction novels, and continue to make my mark as a journalist.
I have a 1-year-old rabbit named Muppet, and he’s one of my favorite sources of entertainment and joy. When i’m not in the newsroom or in a lecture hall I enjoy creative writing, singing and writing music, cooking delicious things, binge-watching random TV shows on Netflix (personal record is 2.5 seasons of a show in one day, I’m kind of a big deal), and spending time with my family and friends.
My main goal in life is to be a mirror for others and show them how wonderful and powerful they really are. I know what it’s like to feel like you are face-down in life’s gutter, and I want to help bring out the best in people. I believe in self-motivation and having faith in what the future will bring. I think it is so important to recognize your weaknesses, but even more important to realize what they can do to empower and enhance your strengths. After all, it is not your failures that define you, but rather how you harness the energy that comes from getting knocked down and then use it to rise to the occasion that is your life.
I have lexical-gustatory synesthesia, which is a super science-y way of saying that I can taste words. It’s crazy, I know. To read more about this, check out my column from the Rocky Mountain Collegian by clicking here.
